Overview

Works of Bryan built the Baybayin app as a free educational app. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our app. We take your privacy seriously. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.

The short version: we collect nothing.

Information We Do Not Collect

The Baybayin app does not collect any of the following:

Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, address)
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Usage analytics or behavioural data
Location data
Crash reports or diagnostics sent to our servers
Payment or financial information
Contacts, camera, or microphone data

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The app stores the following data locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is never accessible to us.

Transliteration History

Words or phrases you transliterate are saved to a local history list stored in your device's UserDefaults storage. This history is visible only to you within the app. You can delete individual entries or clear all history at any time from within the app.

App Preferences

User preferences such as whether the onboarding screen has been shown are stored locally using Apple's standard UserDefaults system. These are standard app preference flags and contain no personal information.

Sharing & Saving (Optional)

The app includes a Share button on the Practice and Translate screens. Tapping it generates an image of your drawing or transliteration and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet. From there, you choose what to do with it — save to Photos, send via Messages, AirDrop, email, or any other destination iOS offers.

You Are in Control.

The app does not transmit, upload, or share your content anywhere on its own. Sharing only happens when you tap Share and explicitly choose a destination. Once iOS hands your content off to another app (Messages, Mail, etc.), the privacy of that data is governed by the receiving app's policy, not ours.

Voice / Text-to-Speech

The app plays pre-recorded audio clips for Baybayin character pronunciation. As a fallback, it uses Apple's built-in AVSpeechSynthesizer framework for text-to-speech. All audio processing is performed entirely on-device. No text or audio is sent to external servers.

Third-Party Services

The Baybayin app does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. There are no third-party frameworks included in this app that collect data of any kind.

Children's Privacy

The Baybayin app is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. Because we do not collect any personal information from any user, there is no concern regarding the collection of data from children under the age of 13 (COPPA) or 16 (GDPR). No parental consent is required.

Security

Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, there is no personal data at risk. All locally stored data — history and preferences — is protected by iOS's standard app sandbox, which prevents other apps from accessing it.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data held by us for you to request, correct, export, or delete. You retain full control over your locally stored data:

Delete your transliteration history at any time from the History screen within the app
Reset the app completely by deleting and reinstalling it
Revoke Photos access at any time via Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
